Toyota nominates Chinese location service provider Asensing as supplier

Beijing (Gasgoo)- On February 23, China’s location service provider Asensing announced that it has been awarded a contract by Toyota to provide high-precision positioning solutions for several vehicle models under FAW-Toyota.

This nomination made Asensing the first Chinese positioning and perception company to enter Toyota's supply chain system.

As a core function of automotive intelligence, intelligent driving requires efficient, stable, and accurate positioning capabilities. The P-Box, which is planned to be installed in FAW-Toyota vehicles, is a high-precision positioning and perception module that utilizes efficient and stable algorithms based on Kalman filtering. The module integrates satellite signals, six degrees-of-freedom (6DOF) motion sensors, wheel speed sensors, and other information to provide low-latency, high-precision position, velocity, attitude, and time (PVAT) information, even in environments with poor satellite signals such as tunnels and underground parking lots.

Since its establishment in 2014, Asensing has been focusing on the R&D and application of high-precision positioning and perception technology. From in-depth research to commercialization, the company has independently developed software and hardware solutions to create a positioning solution that is "all-weather, all-scenario, highly reliable, high-performance, and highly precise." The company is currently constructing intelligent manufacturing bases in the Yangtze River Delta and Pearl River Delta, with a total annual production capacity of several million sets of intelligent driving sensor kits upon completion.

Up to now, Asensing's solutions have been implemented in nearly 500,000 intelligent vehicles, and have attracted nominated contracts for over 70 vehicle models from more than 20 automakers. In 2022, the company established branches in the United States, Germany, and Japan, and is currently in negotiations with several overseas automakers for collaboration.
