Pony.ai permitted to operate unmanned Robotaxi service in Beijing
Beijing (Gasgoo)- On March 17, Pony.ai announced that it received the permission to conduct fully unmanned Robotaxi service in Beijing. Users can hail an autonomous vehicle empty of safety drivers via the company’s PonyPilot+ application.

The operation permit came after Pony.ai’s 3-month-long road test with 10 empty autonomous vehicles running in the designated area in Beijing’s Yizhuang Economic and Technological Development Zone.
When dealing with complex scenarios such as intersections and narrow roads, as well as extreme weather such as rain, snow, and dust, Pony.ai’s fully unmanned self-driving vehicles have demonstrated the top-notch technical capabilities, truly achieving safety, stability, and zero accidents.
In order to let users get familiar with the service more quickly, Pony.ai has updated the service process on the vehicle front, application front, and passenger front. For example, before getting on the Robotaxi, passengers can find the vehicle they are about to take by arrival time and real-time driving location, and unlock the vehicle only after confirming their identity. During the driving process, users can communicate with support specialists in real time with voice to get the support they need.
