Baidu, Shanghai Jiading District team up to build smart digitalized city

Beijing (Gasgoo)- Baidu signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Shanghai's Jiading District government on May 10. Leveraging Jiading's regional advantages and industrial expertise, along with Baidu's accumulations in artificial intelligence (AI), the two parties will collaborate comprehensively in intelligent connected vehicle services, smart transportation optimization, and enhancing urban governance efficiency.

Jiading District plans to develop a country-leading intelligent connected vehicle service zone. This initiative will power L2+ mass-produced vehicles with integrated vehicle-to-cloud services. Utilizing Baidu's strengths in AI and big data, the partnership will explore credit-based construction models to address traffic congestion issues, optimize traffic efficiency, and enhance the travel experience for residents. 

The collaboration will also leverage Jiading District's multidimensional data value from vehicles, roads, and the city, fostering data sharing and utilization. Baidu's capabilities in data processing and AI models will promote the construction and reuse of data, helping to improve urban governance and improving efficiency.

Up to now, Jiading District boasts a significant achievement in the field of autonomous driving testing, with an accumulated autonomous driving distance of over 10.79 million kilometers. It leads China in the scale of various vehicle demonstration applications, supporting over 1,580 L2-L4 autonomous driving testing scenarios. Moreover, the district has built nearly 300 smart intersections, along with a high-precision road network spanning 356 kilometers.
