Baidu Apollo Go Robotaxi service completes 660,000 ride-share orders in Q1 2023
Beijing (Gasgoo)- Chinese tech giant Baidu announced its first-quarter financial results for 2023 on May 16, which showed a total revenue of 31.1 billion yuan, up 10% year on year.
The net profit attributable to Baidu (non-GAAP) amounted to 5.7 billion yuan in Q1, surging 48% compared to the same period last year.
In the period, Baidu's autonomous driving ride-hailing service platform (Robotaxi), Apollo Go, demonstrated remarkable performance. According to the financial report, Apollo Go completed approximately 660,000 orders in the first quarter of this year, showing a staggering 236% soar year-on-year and an 18% increase from the previous quarter. As of Q1 2023, the cumulative order volume of Apollo Go has surpassed 2 million.
Apollo Go currently operates in such major Chinese cities as Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Wuhan, and Chongqing. In the first quarter, Baidu's Apollo Go obtained permission to conduct fully unmanned autonomous driving demonstrations in Beijing, expanding its unmanned services to Beijing, Wuhan, and Chongqing.
Furthermore, in late March this year, Baidu received approval for intelligent connected vehicle innovation application testing in Shanghai's Pudong New Area, allowing the company to initiate fully unmanned autonomous driving tests.
Baidu's plans for the year include expanding the service scale of Apollo Go, with a goal of deploying an additional 200 fully unmanned Robotaxis nationwide, in a bid to establish the world's largest autonomous driving operating service area.
