Pingshan District is the first administrative region in China with legislative support for open intelligent and connected mobility. It allows for the testing and deployment of intelligent connected vehicles, providing a platform for the development of smart sanitation initiatives. Throughout this year, the district has been actively exploring the application of self-driving street sweepers in various scenarios, utilizing different models of autonomous sanitation equipment for comprehensive and efficient operations. The goal is to enhance the efficiency and quality of sanitation work, while minimizing potential safety and health hazards for sanitation workers.
The Robosweeper by WeRide is a versatile and efficient sanitation solution capable of performing a range of tasks including sweeping, washing, spraying, and flushing. Operating autonomously, it can automatically navigate around pedestrians and obstacles, efficiently carrying out sanitation tasks such as road cleaning, dust suppression, and disinfection. This significantly boosts the efficiency of sanitation operations.
Moreover, the Robosweeper is integrated with an exclusive cloud control platform, serving as the central command and intelligence hub for smart sanitation. Operators can monitor the vehicle's operational routes, status, and self-driving capabilities in real-time. The platform also enables functions such as intelligent scheduling, remote dispatching, and route management, eliminating the need for manual intervention for routine maintenance tasks like charging, water refilling, waste disposal, startup, and parking.
Notably, during the public testing phase in May 2022, WeRide's Robosweeper achieved remarkable results. Over a four-month period, it reduced carbon dioxide emissions by a cumulative total of 26,791 kilograms compared to traditional sanitation methods, while saving an average of 57% in labor costs.
Currently, WeRide's Robosweeper is deployed for testing and operations in several cities, including Guangzhou, Beijing, Dalian, and Shenzhen.
