VOLANT closes Series A++ funding for eVTOL development

Beijing (Gasgoo)- Recently, Chinese low-altitude economy company Volant Aerotech (VOLANT) announced the completion of Series A++ funding round, which raised for the company over a hundred million yuan.

The round was led by QF Capital, with participation from Nanshan SEI Investment, Dunhong Capital, and existing investor WeLight Capital.

This funding will be used to advance the test flights and trials of the VE25 X1 validation aircraft, develop and manufacture the AC101 product aircraft, accelerate model development, and expand into the commercial passenger transport market, said VOLANT. This marks VOLANT's third hundred-million-yuan financing round this year. Since its establishment in June 2021, VOLANT has completed six financing rounds over the past three years.

VOLANT's core team members hail from leading global aviation companies such as COMAC, GE, and Honeywell. They have extensive experience in the development, certification, and commercialization of nine passenger aircraft models, including the COMAC ARJ21, C919, AVIC MA700, Bombardier C Series, and Dornier Seastar.

From its inception, VOLANT has focused on developing commercial passenger-class eVTOLs (electric vertical take-off and landing aircrafts) as its first product line. The company's flagship product, the VE25, features a composite wing structure, a takeoff weight of 2.5 tons, and can carry one pilot and five passengers. It is currently the world's largest, most capable, and highest-rated manned eVTOL.

VOLANT's founder and CEO, Dong Ming, previously revealed that the VE25-100 passenger-carrying eVTOL officially entered the type certification process six months ago. According to the current timeline, the model will undergo commercial demonstration flights by the end of 2025 and receive its type certificate by mid-2026.
