GAC-backed ONTIME approved for Robotaxi road tests in Hengqin, Zhuhai city

Beijing (Gasgoo)- Recently, ONTIME, GAC Group's mobility service platform, received approval to conduct Robotaxi road tests throughout the Hengqin Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone in Zhuhai city. This marks a crucial step for ONTIME's Robotaxi services in the region.

According to regulations, upon achieving road test targets and receiving approval from relevant authorities, ONTIME's Robotaxis will commence demonstration operations in the Cooperation Zone, offering residents safe, efficient, and convenient autonomous driving services.

ONTIME has been a pioneer in commercializing autonomous driving technology since it began developing and commercializing Robotaxis in 2021. The company independently developed an open Robotaxi operation technology platform. In October 2022, ONTIME became the world's first platform to launch a mixed commercial operation of human-driven ride-hailing and Robotaxi services. By April 2023, ONTIME secured qualification for intelligent connected vehicle demonstration operations in Guangzhou's Nansha District, deploying its own Robotaxi fleet, becoming the first domestic platform to conduct demonstration operations with a proprietary Robotaxi fleet.

In January 2024, ONTIME received approval to conduct Robotaxi passenger-carrying demonstration applications in several key areas of Shenzhen. The same month, ONTIME was granted a commercial pilot license for intelligent connected vehicles in Shenzhen's Bao'an District, allowing commercial Robotaxi services in the area.

Currently, ONTIME's Robotaxi services are operational in central districts of Guangzhou and Shenzhen cities. In addition to its self-operated Robotaxis, ONTIME's platform integrates Robotaxi fleets from partners such as GAC R&D CENTER and Pony.ai. As of December 31, 2023, the platform's Robotaxi fleet has grown to 281 vehicles. ONTIME's Robotaxi services have accumulated 20,080 operational hours, and completed 450,699 kilometers of safe trial operation.
