Beijing-led city cluster to deploy at least 5,300 FCVs in 2021-2025
Shanghai (Gasgoo)- For the year of 2021 to 2025, at least 5,300 hydrogen fuel cell vehicles (FCVs) will be deployed for demonstration in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region, involving 10 scenarios including the passenger transport at the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics, port operations, transportation of commodities, logistics distribution, and buses, the Beijing Municipal Commission of Economy and Information Technology said at a press conference on Sept. 14.

The aforementioned plan is part of the implementation scheme Beijing Municipal Government formulated for the development of its hydrogen industry for 2021-2025 period. The capital of China will lead the construction of the FCV demonstration city cluster in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region, aiming to build a hydrogen demonstration region with global influence and capable of outputting an industrial chain value of over 10 billion yuan ($1.551 billion) per year.
Beijing was selected as one of the first batch of FCV demonstration cities in China, the Beijing Municipal Finance Bureau said in late August. A total of 12 cities and districts represented by Beijing's Daxing district, Tianjin's Binhai New Area, and Hebei's Baoding city have formed the demonstration city cluster for FCVs in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region.
The megacity has developed a financial support system for FCV promotion, in a bid to fully support the R&D of relevant key technologies, the construction of hydrogen filling stations, and vehicles purchases.
