Car and City: Sept. registrations of Wuling Hongguang MINIEV
Shanghai (Gasgoo)- In September 2021, the insurance registrations of the Wuling Hongguang MINIEV, a mini-sized all-electric car model of SAIC-GM-Wuling (SGMW), reached 38,030 units, rocketing 158.1% year on year, while also rising 15.9% month on month, according to the China Banking and Insurance Regulatory Commission (CBIRC).
The registrations volume once again made the Hongguang MINIEV the hottest-selling locally-made new energy vehicle model in China, outnumbering the runner-up Model Y by 5,001 units.
By the end of Sept. 2021, cumulative insurance volume of the MINIEV amounted to 286,528 units, 258,269 units of which were registered this year.
With 636 units registered, Nanning, capital of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, was the No.1 city by the Sept. registrations of the Hongguang MINIEV. The other city with over 600 MINIEVs registered last month was Zhumadian, a prefecture-level city in Henan province.
A total of eight cities in China recorded Sept. MINIEV registrations at/above 500 units, while below 600 units. Half of them were located in Henan province, namely, Shangqiu, Luoyang, Nanyang, and Zhengzhou.

Among the top 20 cities in terms of Sept. MINIEV registrations, six and four cities were from Henan and Zhejiang provinces respectively. Besides, the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, Shandong province, and Hebei province all occupied two spots.
None of the four cities usually seen as China's largest and most developed urban metropolises, namely, Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, and Shenzhen, entered the top 20 cities list last month.
