Ganfeng LiEnergy starts operation of 10GWh battery production facility in Jiangxi

Shanghai (Gasgoo)- Ganfeng LiEnergy, a subsidiary of the world's leading battery-grade lithium producer Ganfeng Lithium, saw its second phase of new-type lithium battery manufacturing plant in Xinyu, Jiangxi province start production on Jan. 22, a step towards greatly ramping up capacity of power batteries.

Covering a floorage of 330,000 square meters, the Xinyu battery manufacturing base’s second phase is designed to feature an annual capacity of 10GWh, according to a post on Ganfeng Lithium's WeChat account. The facility has lines for production of lithium iron phosphate prismatic batteries, pouch cells, as well as solid-state batteries.

The plant boasts highly-integrated automated production line to deliver an efficiency three times more than that of manual operations, said Ganfeng Lithium. Besides, the consistency of products will be ensured by virtue of real-time feedback ability and traceability of ERP (enterprise resource planning) system and MES (manufacturing execution system), assisted by advanced production equipment and techniques of coating, flaking, and coiling, etc.

The aforesaid project is expected to generate 10 billion yuan ($1.579 billion) of production value annually and create over 4,000 jobs.

In the meantime, 50 Dongfeng E70 all-electric cars armed with Gangfeng LiEnergy's solid-state batteries were delivered for pilot operation, indicating a start for industrialization of solid-state batteries in China.

Gangfeng LiEnergy said it will update its solid-state batteries based on the vehicles' actual performance regarding driving and charging, so as to keep improving the application experience of batteries, and crucial parameters about safety and energy density.
