NIO, Sinopec co-build 175 EV charging, battery swap stations within one year
Shanghai (Gasgoo)- As of April 15, 2022, NIO and the state-run oil and gas producer Sinopec have jointly built 175 EV charging and battery swapping stations, only one year after both parties forged a strategic partnership.

According to NIO, the aforesaid co-built facilities are composed of 71 battery swapping stations, 75 supercharging stations, as well as 29 destination charging stations, covering 72 prefecture-level cities across China.
On April 15, 2021, NIO and Sinopec inked a strategic partnership agreement. In addition to the co-development of battery charging and swapping network, the two would comprehensively cooperate in new materials, smart EV technology, Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS), vehicle purchasing, and recreational facility constructions.
In the meantime, NIO and Sinopec unveiled the NIO Power Swap Station 2.0 at Sinopec's Chaoying Station in Beijing, representing the world's debut of NIO's second-generation battery swap station.
In the capital of China, a total of three EV charging and battery swapping stations have already been put into operation, said the startup.
Another milestone NIO announced this week for its battery swapping business is that the startup has completed the building of a highway battery swapping network for metropolitan areas in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (“Greater Bay Area”). With Guangzhou and Shenzhen as the center, this network consists of 31 battery swapping stations that cover 18 main expressways, including the G15 Shenyang-Haikou, G4 Beijing–Hong Kong–Macau, and G94 Pearl River Delta Ring expressways.
