Huawei-backed AITO’s all-electric M5 EV hits market
Shanghai (Gasgoo)- On Sept. 6, AITO, the Chinese new energy vehicle (NEV) brand backed by Huawei and SERES, put its first all-electric model, the M5 EV, onto the market at the ICT giant's new product launch event.
The new all-electric model comes with two trim levels, of which the RWD Standard version is priced at 288,600 yuan ($41,470) after subsidies, and the price of the AWD Performance version is 319,800 yuan ($45,950).

The AITO M5 EV adopts an aluminium alloy chassis and the HUAWEI DATS system, which helps reduce batteries' energy consumption thanks to the adaptive torque adjustment, augmentation of energy recovery, manageability of power performance, etc. Using the new energy-saving tuning model, the M5 EV features a CLTC-rated range of 620km on the RWD version, and 552km on the AWD one.
Test drives of the AITO M5 EV will begin on Sept. 24.

Positioned as a mid-sized SUV, the new model measures 4,785mm long, 1,930mm wide, and 1,620mm tall, with a wheelbase of 2,880mm.

Riding on the HUAWEI DriveONE ePowertrain, the AITO M5 EV's Performance version can zip from 0-100km/h within 4.5 seconds and has a braking distance of 35.3 meters from 100-0km/h.
With a streamlined car body, the M5 EV features a drag coefficient as low as 0.266Cd.
