China’s Hunan province sets out blueprint for hydrogen industry development

Shanghai (Gasgoo)- China's Hunan province plans to build 10 hydrogen-refueling stations and deploy 500 fuel cell vehicles (FCVs) in the four years ended 2025, according to a document issued on Nov. 18 by the Development and Reform Commission of Hunan Province and the Hunan Provincial Energy Administration.

The document illustrates the blueprints Hunan province hammered out for its hydrogen industry development that runs to 2035.

Under the development plan, the province expects to see its hydrogen industrial chain basically take shape by 2025 with over 100 companies working on hydrogen-related businesses. Besides, the utilization rate of hydrogen from industrial by-products would be significantly lifted, breakthroughs would be made in hydrogen production from renewable resources, and the pilot applications of hydrogen in such fields as engineering machinery, transportation, ports, and distributed power generation would be gradually promoted in Hunan between 2022 and 2025.

Local authorities regard the years of 2026-2030 as the market exploration period for the hydrogen industry. During the five years, there will be 5-10 hydrogen enterprises with core competitiveness formed in Hunan with the industrial cluster further strengthened.

For the years of 2031-2035, the hydrogen industry in Hunan will go into the scale application stage, which features a full-fledge system for independent innovation in hydrogen technologies and open cooperation, and sees a network of hydrogen production, supply, storage, and sale basically built.
