BYD's Yangwang brand kicks off presale of U8 model

Shanghai (Gasgoo)- BYD's high-end sub-brand, Yangwang, put its U8 and U9 models and the Yangwang architecture on display at the Auto Shanghai 2023. Presale of the U8 kicked off at the same time.

Coming with two trim levels, luxury version and off-roader version, the U8 features a presale price of 1,098,000 yuan.

The U8 new energy off-roader rides on BYD’s two major proprietary technologies, the e⁴ Platform and the NEV-dedicated DiSus-P intelligent hydraulic pressure vehicle body control system. The U8 churns out a maximum power of 1,100 HP and can zip from 0-100km/h in 3.6s. Installed with BYD’s Blade battery, the model features a CLTC-rated range of 1,000km.

Uniquely, the U8 is installed with a 12.8-inch curved display at the center console that tilts at a 37° angle to fit user’s operating posture, creating an innovative and boundless cabin ambient. 

Notably, the luxury edition of the U8 is equipped with an advance intelligent driving system, with 38 high-precision perception units, including 3 LiDAR units, 5 millimeter-wave radars, 14 ultrasonic sensors, and 16 cameras. 

Delivery of the U8 luxury edition will start in September 2023, while delivery of the off-roader edition will come later, said Yangwang.

Aside from the U8, Yangwang also unveiled its U9 model at the event.
