The latest move signifies a further deepening cooperation between NIO and METRO since the two parties agreed to forge a partnership on constructing EV charging stations and battery swap stations in the first half of 2021.
The data from NIO shows that battery swapping by NIO vehicle owners accounts for over 60% of the total electricity supply for NIO’s vehicles. With over 22 million battery swaps conducted so far, there are nearly 50,000 swaps finished per day on average, which means a battery swap is completed every 1.9 seconds averagely.
As of May 15, NIO has deployed in China a total of 1,403 power swap stations, 374 of which are located along highways and expressways. Besides, the EV manufacturer has also launched in the country 2580 charging stations with 15,312 charging piles, and has had access to over 700,000 third-party charging piles.
