BYD introduces DOLPHIN BEV into Malaysian market

Shanghai (Gasgoo)- On July 27, 2023, BYD, in partnership with Sime Darby Motors, put its DOLPHIN all-electric model onto the Malaysian market. This marks BYD's introduction of the second pure electric vehicle model in Malaysia, following the BYD ATTO 3.

With two trim levels offered, the BYD DOLPHIN is priced at RMB 124,900 for the Premium Extended Range and RM 99,900 for the Dynamic Standard Range in local market.

The automaker said safety is a priority for the BYD DOLPHIN, equipped with advanced driver assistance systems and other active and passive safety features to ensure a secure and effortless driving experience. Additionally, the vehicle is equipped with multiple smart features, including a 12.8-inch rotatable touchscreen and an active acoustic design with a six-speaker audio system. The long-range version comes with wireless charging and a fixed panoramic sunroof, boasting an NEDC range of up to 490 kilometers and a 0 to 100 km/h acceleration in just 7 seconds.

During the launch event, Liu Xueliang, General Manager of BYD Asia-Pacific Automotive Sales Division, stated, "On December 8 last year, BYD and Sime Darby jointly hosted the brand launch to introduce the BYD ATTO 3 model, marking our official entry into the passenger car market in Malaysia. We now have eight stores operating officially. In the future, BYD and our partners will expand the dealership network's coverage, making BYD service points available across various cities and regions in Malaysia."

Prior to the latest launch, on July 12, BYD held a brand launch and new model release event in Chile, officially introducing the BYD DOLPHIN, and announcing its official price for the Chilean market.

On July 6, BYD, in collaboration with its local partner RêVER Automotive, held a launch event in Bangkok, Thailand, for the BYD DOLPHIN extended range variant and announced the retail price of the model’s standard range version.

On July 3, BYD, joining hands with local authorized dealer Vantage Automotive in Singapore, officially put the BYD DOLPHIN, onto the Singaporean market.
