BYD’s 500,000th DOLPHIN hatchback rolls off line

Shanghai (Gasgoo)- On September 22, BYD, the Chinese prominent new energy vehicle (NEV) maker, marked a significant milestone by commemorating the production of its 500,000th BYD DOLPHIN.

Since its debut in August 2021, the BYD DOLPHIN has consistently maintained its position as the best-selling A0-level hatchback in China for an impressive 19 consecutive months.

The global impact of the BYD DOLPHIN continues to be felt as it provides environmentally friendly mobility solutions to customers around the world. According to BYD, in June 2023, the DOLPHIN was introduced in Brazil, managing to sell over 4,000 units within just two months and becoming the top-selling electric vehicle (EV) model in August. Additionally, in Thailand, the DOLPHIN secured the fifth position in EV sales during its first month on the local market, with 481 units delivered. In the UK, it recently concluded its inaugural test drive event, receiving widespread acclaim from the media.

As the first model built on the e-Platform 3.0, which is exclusively designed for pure electric vehicles, the BYD DOLPHIN places a strong emphasis on aerodynamics, rigidity, and interior cabin space. Inspired by the Ocean Aesthetics design language, the BYD DOLPHIN draws its design cues from the beauty of nature, said BYD. It combines flowing, emotional elements reminiscent of waves with bold and charismatic lines, resulting in a dynamic and exuberant overall style. Inside the DOLPHIN, the eco-friendly ethos is evident, with sustainable vegan leather covering the integrated sports seats. These seats offer both long-distance comfort and robust lateral support, all while incorporating ocean-inspired aesthetics.

In a gesture of gratitude towards its loyal supporters, BYD introduced a special commemorative edition, the "DOLPHIN 500,000-unit Commemorative Edition," at the event. It comes with two variants: the Pro priced at 126,800 yuan and the Plus priced at 139,800 yuan.

This commemorative edition pays tribute to BYD's remarkable achievement of producing 500,000 DOLPHIN vehicles by incorporating elements of track-inspired design in both exterior and interior details. Through features such as sporty kits and an exclusive commemorative badge, the design accentuates the vehicle's sporting prowess and unique character, underscoring the significance of the 500,000-unit production milestone. Its distinctive "Heatwave Crimson" exclusive color, leaning towards a reddish-purple hue, offers a rich depth of character. When contrasted with the deep Dull Black accents, it portrays the DOLPHIN 's bold, free-spirited, and fearless personality.

Furthermore, the "DOLPHIN 500,000-unit Commemorative Edition" introduces new intelligent features, such as smart power-on/-off and continuous intelligent voice interaction, reinforcing the DOLPHIN's image as a tech-savvy vehicle. Current DOLPHIN owners can also enjoy these features through Over-the-Air (OTA) upgrades in the near future.
