BYD’s new energy vehicle sales surpass 280,000 units in Sept. 2023

Shanghai (Gasgoo)- In September 2023, BYD Company Limited ("BYD") saw its monthly auto sales hit a new high of 287,454 new energy vehicles (NEVs), marking a remarkable year-on-year increase of 42.83%.

Of the vehicles BYD sold last month, 286,903 units were new energy passenger vehicles (NEPVs), representing a year-on-year surge of 42.76% and a month-on-month-growth of 4.68%.

In a more detailed analysis of the various powertrain solutions, BYD sold 151,193 units of battery electric vehicles (BEVs) and 135,710 units of plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs) in September. These numbers constitute 52.7% and 47.3%, respectively, of the total NEPVs sold by the company.

BYD's brand portfolio continues to expand, currently including the Dynasty and Ocean series, as well as DENZA, Yangwang, and Fangchengbao brands. In September, DENZA achieved sales of 13,156 new cars, reflecting a month-on-month growth of 14.25%, while the sales of the Dynasty and Ocean series aggregated 273,747 units, which jumped 36.2% over the previous year.In addition to catering to domestic market demands, BYD remains committed to strengthening its presence in international markets. Since officially launching its "Passenger Car Going Global" initiative in May 2021, BYD's NEPVs have expanded their footprints to encompass 55 countries and regions, including Japan, Germany, Australia, Brazil, and the United Arab Emirates.

In September alone, BYD's NEPV export volume reached 28,039 units, rising 12.05% from a month ago.

Looking at the cumulative sales figures from January to September of this year, BYD sold a total of 2,079,638 NEVs, reflecting an impressive year-on-year increase of 76.23%. It indicated that the company has completed 69.32% of its 3-million-unit annual sales target.
