BYD Sea Lion 07 EV makes world debut at Auto Guangzhou 2023

Shanghai (Gasgoo)- On November 17th, the 21st Auto Guangzhou opened its doors, featuring the global premiere of BYD's latest addition to the Ocean family – the "Sea Lion 07 EV," touted as a "brand-new midsize urban smart electric SUV".

Positioned as the Ocean family's first midsize all-electric SUV, the Sea Lion 07 EV is an advanced iteration of BYD's e-Platform 3.0, set to incorporate the latest generation of BYD's intelligent driving technology, all within the framework of the "Ocean Aesthetics" design philosophy.

The BYD Sea Lion 07 EV is estimated to be priced between 200,000 yuan and 260,000 yuan, according to the automaker.

Designed under the leadership of BYD's Global Chief Designer, Wolfgang Josef Egger, the Sea Lion 07 EV builds upon the Ocean X concept car, further solidifying the familial concept across the Ocean series. The vehicle faithfully reproduces the distinctive design of the concept model, with flowing lines outlining a sleek, sloping profile. Chrome accents visually enhance the suspended structure of the roof, creating a visual contrast reminiscent of the domed effect seen in ancient Roman architecture. The clean lines on the vehicle's sides maintain the Ocean series' signature dual waistline.

The front section gains a robust appearance through contrasting tones and materials, with the family-style Ocean Joy (“Haiyue” in Chinese Pinyin) double-U floating headlights adding a sharp touch, serving as the crowning detail in the overall design.

At the rear, the Sea Lion 07 EV exhibits a well-defined profile with an outward-expanding body. The through-type taillights, resembling cascading waves with parameterized distributed point sources, provide a distinctive and recognizable visual identity. Additionally, the rear end introduces an upgraded version of the LED rear luminous logo technology, capable of displaying a metallic sheen or a semi-translucent glow.

Measuring 4,830mm long, 1,925mm wide, and 1,620mm tall, with an extended wheelbase of 2,930mm, the Sea Lion 07 EV meets the standards of a midsize SUV.

Equipped with rear-wheel/four-wheel drive architecture, iTAC technology, front double-wishbone, rear five-link independent suspension, and the DiSus C intelligent damping vehicle body control system, the Sea Lion 07 EV promises a sophisticated driving experience. As for intelligent features, the vehicle will integrate BYD's latest generation of intelligent driving technology, expanding the horizons of urban mobility for users.

Looking ahead, BYD's Ocean network plans to consolidate SUV models under the Sea Lion series, while sedan models will fall under the Seal line.
