Shanghai (Gasgoo)- In the latest release of new car declaration information by China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, BYD's all-new SUV model has come to light. The new vehicle, belonging to the Yuan series, showcases a fresh exterior design. According to the rear badge, the new model might be named "Yuan UP".

One of the standout features of the new SUV is its distinctive and innovative exterior. The vehicle adopts the Yuan series’ iconic logo layout, seamlessly integrating the "元"logo in small seal script into the black front grille panel. The slender headlights on either side of the car distinguish it from other models in the Yuan series, emphasizing a layered aesthetic. Furthermore, the unique design of the front lower bumper, equipped with exaggerated air intake channels on both sides, adorned with large black panels and chrome trim, gives the vehicle a robust and highly recognizable appearance.

Moving to the rear, the BYD Yuan UP features a through-type taillight design, coupled with a segmented spoiler on the roof and a large diffuser, highlighting its sporty demeanor. The vehicle's side profile reveals hidden door handles, black panels, and chrome details along the lower edge, contributing to its off-road appeal. Interestingly, unlike the existing models of BYD's Dynasty range, the rear badge of the new car displays the "BYD" logo rather than the small seal script “元” emblem seen on the front.

In terms of dimensions, the Yuan UP measures 4,310mm long, 1,830mm wide, and 1,675mm tall, with a wheelbase of 2,620mm, making it slightly smaller than the Yuan PLUS. However, compared to the Yuan Pro, although the new car's length is shorter, the wheelbase has been increased by 85mm, and the width has expanded by 45mm. The Yuan UP excels in passenger space and comfort within its segment, despite being positioned as a compact SUV, meeting the daily needs of most families.

On the configuration front, BYD offers a range of personalized options for the Yuan UP, including various wheel styles, a panoramic sunroof with luggage rack, front grille panels, and fender decorations. The Yuan UP comes with a dual offering of permanent magnet synchronous electric motors, delivering maximum power outputs of 70kW and 130kW, respectively, although details about its range are yet to be disclosed. The new model is expected to be officially launched in the first half of 2024.
