SHPT, GH2 Global form strategic cooperation on applying fuel cell tech in Brazil’s transportation, industrial sectors

Shanghai (Gasgoo)- Shanghai Hydrogen Propulsion Technology Co., Ltd. ("SHPT") recently entered into a strategic partnership with GH2 Global, a Brazilian hydrogen solutions provider, to accelerate the adoption of fuel cell technology in Brazil's transportation and industrial sectors, according to a post on SHPT's WeChat account.

Leveraging their respective technological expertise and market networks, the two companies aim to integrate hydrogen fuel cell solutions into public transportation, logistics, construction machinery, and energy storage, contributing to sustainable energy development.

As Latin America's largest economy and oil producer, Brazil is also one of the fastest-growing markets for renewable energy in the region. In recent years, the country has prioritized energy transition, introducing multiple incentives and committing to reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 67% from 2005 levels by 2035. In a significant step toward hydrogen adoption, Brazil recently enacted Law No. 14948/2024, establishing a legal framework for low-carbon hydrogen production and commercialization while reinforcing its commitment to emissions reduction.

GH2 Global specializes in development of industrial hydrogen solutions and relevant manufacturing business, offering end-to-end hydrogen energy systems. Its parent company, Gali Energia, has been active in Brazil's sustainable energy sector for over 30 years, having built 45 solar power plants with a total output exceeding 1.7GWp clean energy. Drawing on its deep experience in local regulations, industrial processes, and power infrastructure, GH2 plans to expand hydrogen and fuel cell applications, with a particular focus on logistics and transportation.

For SHPT, the collaboration marks a significant step in expanding into South America. As a key player in China's hydrogen and fuel cell industry, SHPT has been at the forefront of fuel cell stack and system innovation, with power outputs ranging from 1.5kW to 260kW. Its solutions are widely applied across passenger cars, city buses, commercial trucks, mining vehicles, and stationary power generation. The company has already deployed demonstration projects in 32 cities across 18 provinces in China, driving large-scale adoption in logistics, passenger transport, utility vehicles, and power generation.

Zheng Yuanchun, head of SHPT's overseas business, expressed confidence in the partnership, stating that GH2's strong local presence combined with SHPT's cutting-edge technology will deliver efficient and sustainable solutions for Brazil's logistics sector. He also highlighted the collaboration's potential to accelerate hydrogen adoption in Brazil, helping the country move closer to its climate commitments.
