CATL rolls out 1 millionth battery pack for Li Auto

Shanghai (Gasgoo)- On the evening of June 10, CATL announced the rollout of its one millionth battery pack exclusively developed for Li Auto, marking a major milestone in the long-standing partnership between the two companies.

Since Li Auto's founding in 2015, CATL has served as its core power battery supplier, playing a pivotal role in shaping the automaker's product strategy. The collaboration began with customized battery solutions for the Li ONE, extended to supporting the L-series flagship SUVs, and most recently culminated in breakthrough innovations for the all-electric MPV, the Li MEGA.

The Li MEGA is equipped with the 5C Qilin battery co-developed by CATL and Li Auto, a groundbreaking advancement that not only enables ultra-long range but also delivers the pretty fast charging capability—adding 500 kilometers of range in just 12 minutes. The battery achieves a peak charging rate of 5C, with charging current exceeding 700A and peak power surpassing 520kW.

Li Auto previously disclosed that joint engineering development with CATL began in 2020. Over 1,000 R&D personnel from both companies contributed to the development of the 5C Qilin battery, with 280 engineers from Li Auto alone—70% of whom were dedicated specifically to ultra-fast charging technologies.

After three years of joint efforts, the two companies successfully developed 5C battery cells, a 5C thermal management system, and a 5C battery safety architecture.

As of April this year, CATL's battery technologies and products have powered more than 19.25 million vehicles globally. The company emphasized its continued commitment to advancing the high-quality development of the new energy vehicle industry through innovation and deeper collaboration with its partners.
