China Passenger Car Association:China auto sales fall below expectation in April

According to China Passenger Car Association, the production of strictly defined passenger vehicles nationwide in China stood at 1,754,000 units, down by 14.2% against this March while up by 6.7% against last April. In the meantime, China has sold 1,638,000 passenger vehicles, down by 11.1% against this March while up by 8.1% against last April. For the first four months of 2016, the production of strictly defined passenger vehicles totaled 7,191,000 units, up by 7.7% compared against the same period last year while the sales of that totaled 7,081,000 units, up by 9%. Cui Dongshu, the general secretary of China Passenger Car Association, concluded that China auto sales fall below expectation this April.

Gasgoo.com (Shanghai) - Sedan sales in China fell 9.5% during the first quarter of this year, statistics from Gasgoo.com (Chinese) show. That rate is a lot less favorable than the 8.9% growth the market as a whole has been able to achieve over the same time period. At the same time, sedans’ market share also fell 10.5 percentage points to just 51.5%.
