34 zombie auto companies have revived by alternative energy vehicles. In October 15th, 2013, Ministry of Industry and Information Technology published Announcement on Special Publicity of Auto Manufacturing Companies, showing 48 auto companies, which cannot maintain their normal production and operation. On November 12th, 2015, 14 auto companies were made public notification on the website of Ministry of Industry and Information Technology for failing in applying market access. According to reporters’ calculation, at least 12 auto companies among the 48 zombie auto companies have turned into alternative energy vehicle companies, opening up a new way for survival.

Recently, news of Samsung SDI battery, used by JAC iEV6S, not being listed into Directory caused a great sensation in the market. Therefore, JAC is facing an embarrassment of halted national subsidiaries. But JAC has denied rumor that it will halt the production of iEV6S and announced that iEV6S will reload domestic batteries. In fact, none of the 57 battery companies listed in the fourth batch of Power Battery Company Directory is Japanese or Korean companies. It’s learned that models loading unlisted batteries will have one-year buffer time to reload listed batteries.

Alternative energy vehicles now also face sales trouble. According to data published by China Association of Automobile Manufacturers (CAAM), alternative energy vehicles have a sales volume of 170,000 units in the first half of year across the nation, increasing 126.9%. Despite of the high growth, the sales volume has great distance with the annual 700,000 units’ target.
