BYD Seagull hits market, starting at 73,800 yuan
Shanghai (Gasgoo)- The BYD Seagull, a new entry-level all-electric model of BYD’s Ocean series, officially hit the market on Apr. 26. Coming with three trim levels, it features a price range of 73,800 yuan to 89,800 yuan.
Positioned as a small-sized car, the BYD Seagull measures 3,780mm long, 1,715mm wide, and 1,540mm tall, with a wheelbase of 2,500mm. It is built on BYD’s e-platform 3.0, and slots below the BYD Dolphin.

Compared to the BYD Dolphin, the Seagull features a more rugged design with sharp edges and corners. Its front face adopts a closed-off grille, with a trapezoidal air intake located below.

The BYD Seagull adopts the iconic design elements of the Ocean series, like the wavy lines. The car is also equipped with a floating instrument panel and a rotatable console-mounted screen, which supports video playing and voice interaction based on the DiLink system.
As for the safety niceties, the BYD Seagull comes standard with four air bags and ESP system for all trim levels. The high-spec version will have side bags for the front-row passengers, as well as such ADAS facilities as adaptive cruise control assist, active emergency braking, traffic sign recognition, and lane departure warning systems.
Powering the vehicle is a permanent magnet synchronous motor that churns out 55kW and a peak torque of 135 N·m. It comes with two Blade Battery types in terms of battery capacity—30.08kWh and 38.88kWh, enabling a range of 305km and 405km, respectively.
