Hello everyone, welcome to Gasgoo. Today, we're here at the YANGWANG Experience Showroom in Lujiazui, Shanghai city, to get a close look at the YANGWANG U9, the second model and first all-electric supercar under BYD’s high-end sub-brand YANGWANG.

Hitting the market on February 25, 2024, the YANGWANG U9 comes with a price tag of 1.68 million yuan and is set for deliveries in the middle of this year. The model we're seeing today is an engineering prototype, and some features and finishes will be optimized in the production version.

Let's start with the exterior. The U9 model comes with three color schemes, and today we're looking at one in the striking color named Danxia Vermilion. The front of the U9 features YANGWANG's signature "Time Gate" design language, flanked by C-shaped LED light strips that create a dramatic visual impact. The carbon fiber front lip not only looks cool but also channels airflow under the car, accelerating the airflow before it passes under the chassis. This, along with the rear diffuser, speeds up the airflow to generate a vacuum that secures the car firmly to the road.

Additionally, the YANGWANG U9 features the eye-catching Butterfly Doors. The unique proportions and dynamic lines of the car’s sides are masterfully crafted into its sculptural body design. It measures 4,966mm in length, 2,029mm in width, and 1,295mm in height, with a wheelbase measuring 2,900mm.

The YANGWANG U9 comes equipped with proprietary carbon ceramic brakes as standard, renowned for their exceptional lightweight, high-temperature resistance, stability, and durability. The carmaker said these brakes are over 70% lighter than regular cast iron discs, significantly reducing unsprung mass. Even at temperatures up to 1,400°C, they ensure consistent braking performance without degradation.

The rear design of the YANGWANG U9 is boldly exaggerated. Its taillights feature a through-type design with radial lines inside, mirroring the front and highly recognizable when lit. It comes standard with an active rear wing and diffuser, with the wing supporting four levels of electronic adjustment, allowing a switch between optimal downforce and drag, offering up to 200kg of downforce.

As for lightweight design, the YANGWANG U9 boasts the world's largest-ever monocoque carbon cabin and is the first mass-produced vehicle model in China to incorporate carbon fiber as a structural element of the body. This advanced lightweighting design not only improves handling and efficiency, but also ensures a more stable and comfortable driving experience, serving as one of the reasons behind the U9's high price.

Inside, the YANGWANG U9’s cockpit features two 14-way adjustable seats with generous padding that provides substantial wrap-around support while maintaining a high level of comfort for both driver and passenger.

The U9's cockpit is equipped with the Dynaudio Evidence Series high-end audio system. Apart from playing delightful symphonies, this 12-speaker sound system can also play highly accurate simulated engine sound waves, creating a more immersive driving passion.

Moreover, the two core technologies, the e4 Platform and the DiSus-X Intelligent Body Control System, are also significant bright spots for the U9 supercar, designed to deliver a race-ready, street-savvy, and fun driving experience. Unfortunately, in this static experience, we can't demonstrate their capabilities live, but we will update you with a dynamic test drive if possible.
