Xiaomi EV's second model 'YU7' to hit market in mid-2025

Shanghai (Gasgoo)- On December 9, Xiaomi EV announced on its official Weibo account that its second electric vehicle (EV) model will be an SUV named the Xiaomi YU7, slated for release between June and July next year.

The YU7 was also featured in the 390th batch of "Road Motor Vehicle Manufacturing Enterprises and Products Announcement" recently published by China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT).

According to the MIIT, the Xiaomi YU7 measures 4,999 mm in length, 1,996 mm in width, and 1,600 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3,000 mm. It has a top speed of 253 km/h and is powered by a CATL's ternary lithium-ion battery. The model's anti-lock braking system (ABS) is the ESP10, manufactured by Bosch Automotive Products (Suzhou) Co., Ltd., and it features electric motors with peak power outputs of 220 kW and 288 kW.

Industry analysts suggest that while the Xiaomi SU7 sedan competes with the Tesla Model 3, the YU7 will likely target the Tesla Model Y.

Since its market launch in March 2024, Xiaomi's first EV, the Xiaomi SU7 sedan, has made remarkable strides in production and delivery. In October, the company achieved monthly production and delivery figures exceeding 20,000 units. In November, the SU7 surpassed its annual delivery target of 100,000 units ahead of schedule. For the full year 2024, Xiaomi aims to deliver 130,000 vehicles.

Xiaomi Group's latest quarterly financial report revealed revenue from its smart EVs and other innovative businesses reached 9.7 billion yuan in the third quarter of 2024, approaching the 10-billion-yuan mark, with a gross margin increase to 17.1%. By September 30, 2024, Xiaomi EV had established 127 retail outlets across 38 cities in China, reflecting the company's commitment to expanding its presence in the EV market.
