Gasgoo Munich- Li Auto CEO Li Xiang took to social media on July 9 to announce that the next-generation L6 will officially launch on July 16.
In a Weibo post, he stated that the R&D team invested heavily in the new model, significantly upgrading its materials and specifications.
Li Xiang noted that the L6 has been his most frequently driven vehicle over the past year. "It’s the right size, easy to drive, and comfortable," he said, "without the burden of handling a large car."
He also revealed that the L6 and the L7 are the most widely used models within the company. Genuine feedback from both internal staff and external customers provided a crucial reference for the new car's improvements.

He asserted that the new L6 does not just lead its class; it delivers a superior experience across the board. "It will be the leader in user experience within this segment," he stated.
Based on previously leaked information, the core upgrades for the next-generation L6 center on electrification and intelligent features.
The battery stands out as the highlight of this refresh. Capacity jumps from 36.8 kWh to 51 kWh—a roughly 38.6% increase. WLTC pure electric range climbs to 234 kilometers, an addition of 52 kilometers over the current model, while total range reaches approximately 1,160 kilometers. The range extender remains a 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine with a maximum power output of 113 kW.
On the intelligent driving front, the vehicle offers an optional four-LiDAR setup. In addition to the main roof-mounted radar, new side and rear LiDARs enable 360-degree perception, bringing hardware specifications on par with the flagship L9. The cockpit chip has been upgraded to the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8797, paired with Li Auto’s in-house Mach M100 intelligent driving chip, while City NOA functionality has been fully rolled out.
Media reports suggest that rising costs—driven by the larger battery and higher prices for raw materials like memory chips and lithium carbonate—have pushed the per-unit cost of the new L6 up by over 14,000 yuan.
The current L6 launched in 2024 and has sold over 166,000 units in 2025 alone, long holding the title of sales champion among mid-to-large SUVs. Whether the next-generation L6 can maintain its price competitiveness after such comprehensive upgrades remains to be seen.
