Gasgoo.com (Shanghai June 2) - Bentley CEO Wolfgang Dürheimer has publicly stated that his company will not produce its cars in China, the Beijing Times reported today. Mr. Dürheimer made the comment at a dealer conference held by the luxury car manufacturer in Beijing earlier this week.
China has quickly become Bentley's second largest market earlier this year, and its importance to the British marque is hard to deny. However, Mr. Dürheimer was steadfast in his resolve: "Even if other manufacturers [build vehicles in China], we will not."
The news puts recent rumors of Bentley opening a Chinese production site by the wayside. However, there have also been reports of Bentley making a large investment which has caused much speculation across the industry.
