Shanghai, December 21 (Gasgoo.com) Xiamen King Long United Automotive Industry Co Ltd, a major Chinese bus maker based in southeast China's Fujian province, will build its first European vehicle assembly plant in Hungary, Xinhua news reported on Friday, citing a company executive in Hungary.

King Long has made a declaration of intent on the factory and the investment is in the planning stages, said King Long Magyarorszag managing director Janos Kelemen. He did not give the amount of the investment.

The assembly plant will be in eastern Hungary, he added, although the specific venue has yet to be decided. He named the southern great plain region and the cities of Gyongyos and Miskolc as possible sites for the plant.

The plant would turn out two buses a day, mainly for delivery in Europe. The project, fully financed by China, is likely to be implemented within the next six months, Kelemen said.

King Long sold about 1,000 buses in Europe last year, including 150 in Hungary. The Chinese bus-maker recently won a tender to supply Hungary's long-distance bus company Volan with 60 vehicles.
