Founded in 2005, COLORTECH New Materials has long specialized in polyurethane innovations. The company’s portfolio includes additives, system materials, and high-end foaming and non-foaming products. These are widely used across sectors ranging from new energy, rail transit, and automotive to medical devices, offshore transmission protection, and eco-friendly films.
Positioned as a comprehensive platform integrating high-end R&D, technology transfer, and smart manufacturing, the new base will focus on eight major product categories. These include solid-state battery and lithium-ion packaging, rail transit vibration damping, medical instrument applications, high-end building sound insulation, and eco-friendly bio-based and degradable materials.
Upon completion, the facility will serve as a core hub for headquarters operations, R&D, and smart manufacturing. A key priority is advancing the industrialization of polyurethane materials for solid-state battery packaging. The project aims to bridge the supply gap for upstream packaging materials in the regional new energy storage sector while attracting a cluster of supporting upstream and downstream enterprises.
As a flagship project for Guangzhou High-tech Zone to secure upstream materials for energy storage, Aike's new base will bolster the region's burgeoning 100-billion-yuan new materials cluster. Huangpu District currently hosts 242 designated-scale new material enterprises. Data shows the sector achieved an output value of roughly 167 billion yuan in 2025. In the first nine months of 2026, output reached 144.8 billion yuan — an 11.8% year-on-year increase that accounted for 23.3% of the district's total industrial output.
In recent years, the zone has attracted several high-level innovation platforms, including the National Polymer Materials Industry Innovation Center and the National Nano Smart Manufacturing Industry Innovation Center. It also hosts Covestro’s Asia-Pacific Application Development Center for thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU). With the organic polymer materials sector now recognized as a national characteristic cluster for small and medium-sized enterprises, the local industrial ecosystem continues to mature.
