Gasgoo.com (Shanghai June 29) - Guangqi Fiat will not produce Chrysler vehicles in China, the Beijing Youth Daily reported today. "[We] are currently not considering domestic manufacture of Chrysler vehicles, [and] likewise there has been no change to our production capacity," a spokesman for the joint venture said.
The official statement comes in response to a quote that Head of Chrysler's International Operations Mike Manley made, saying that the American manufacturer was researching the possibility of producing vehicles in the country.
The media has been speculated that Chrysler will be preparing to cooperate with joint venture Guangqi Fiat. Chrysler has recently paid off its debts to the American and Canadian governments thanks to parent company Fiat's aid.
In other news, Guangqi Fiat will reportedly be bringing over the brand new C-Medium (pictured) next summer. The C-Medium is specially targeted towards the Chinese market.
