Luxury brands report strong performance in first half of 2011

Gasgoo.com (Shanghai July 22) - Luxury marque Rolls-Royce's Asian sales during the first half of the year grew an astounding 170 percent, the Beijing Evening News reported today. The figure represents a huge success for the British manufacturer in the Asia-Pacific region. Rolls-Royce's global sales this year totaled 1,592 vehicles, 64 percent higher than the amount sold in the first half of 2010.

Rolls-Royce's main competitor and fellow UK manufacturer, Bentley, has also seen great success in the Chinese market, with 623 vehicles sold between January and June. The amount represents a growth of 66 percent in Bentley's Chinese business. 

In other news, Lamborghini has also been doing well in the Chinese market since its entry in 2005. The Italian manufacturer sold a record 206 vehicles in the country last year. Over 100 Lamborghinis have been sold in the country so far this year.
