New emission standards to come into effect starting July

Gasgoo.com (Shanghai June 22) - The Ministry of Environmental Protection announced that the Fourth National Standards for vehicle emissions will come into effect starting July 1, the Nanfang Daily reported today. New automobiles not meeting the new requirements for fuel emissions will be barred from registering in the country.

The new regulations will apply to both domestically manufactured and imported vehicles. Manufacturers and sellers will be required to send in all vehicle specifications to the Ministry of Environmental Protection for approval. All approved requests will be sorted by vehicle identification number.

Developers have been preparing for the new standards, with vehicles used during the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games and 2010 Shanghai Expo built according to the specifications.
