Passenger vehicles sell a total of 1.56m units in July this year, decreasing 10% with June and increasing 29.1% with the same period of last year. Wuling Hongguang ranks first with a sales volume of 42,178 units in July, increasing 32.6%. Baojun 730, ranking 13th, has a decreasing sales volume of 18,238 units, declining 20.6% with the same period of last year. Baojun 560 fell to 16th with a sales volume of 15,607 units.
Aug. 11 , 2016here has been structural overcapacity in the automobile industry in China, according to Chinese authorities. In 2015, production capacity of 37 leading automakers, of which production has accounted for 99% of the Chinese market, is expected to be 31.22 million units, including 25.75 million units of passenger vehicles, of which the utilization rate is 81%, and 5.47 million units of commercial vehicles, of which the utilization rate is only 52%.

In October 15th, 2013, Ministry of Industry and Information Technology published Announcement on Special Publicity of Auto Manufacturing Companies, showing 48 auto companies, which cannot maintain their normal production and operation. On November 12th, 2015, 14 auto companies were made public notification on the website of Ministry of Industry and Information Technology for failing in applying market access. According to reporters’ calculation, at least 12 auto companies among the 48 zombie auto companies have turned into alternative energy vehicle companies, opening up a new way for survival.
