Gasgoo.com (Shanghai May 23) - South East Motors, otherwise as Soueast, will be importing the new Mitsubishi Global Small in the latter half of 2012, sources from within the manufacturer told the Beijing News today. Its an important step for Soueast, who currently does not have a foothold in the microcar segment.
According to reports, Masuko Osamu, head of Mitsubishi Motors, personally gave the go ahead to Soueast. Soueast has been cooperating with the Japanese giant for five years now, which Mitsubishi hopes to commemorate by allowing Soueast to bring over the strategic new model.
The Global Small (pictured), which premiered in concept form at Auto Shanghai 2011, held this April, is supposedly targeted at the Nissan March. It will reportedly be outfitted with a 1.0 L to 1.2 L engine.
