Gasgoo.com (Shanghai February 15) - Beijing Automotive Group (BAIC) announced that it had completed replacement and refitting of 500 VW Passat Beijing taxis, the Beijing Times reported. The taxis, which are painted entirely in black instead of the usual two-tone livery due to the upcoming 11th National People's Congress and 11th Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, have already begun making rounds around the city.

When asked regarding public responses, a taxi driver replied, "Some residents are afraid to call for these taxis, thinking they might be too expensive. The truth is, they're the same price as normal ones." BAIC is reportedly in the process of eliminating the old models with new ones. The new taxis boast superior technology and adhere to stricter environmental standards, with lower fuel consumption and emissions. Additionally, the taxis come with higher-quality interiors sporting genuine leather seats and other adornments.
