AMEC Establishes Central China Headquarters in Optics Valley

Gasgoo Munich- AMEC is establishing a presence in Central China. According to the "China Optics Valley" WeChat account, Advanced Micro-Fabrication Equipment China (AMEC) has officially established a regional headquarters in Wuhan’s Optics Valley. The project company is now registered, with operations slated to begin in early 2027.

The new entity, AMEC Semiconductor Equipment (Wuhan) Co., Ltd., was registered on July 28, 2026, with a capital of 50 million yuan. It will establish operations in the Optics Valley Storage-Computing Innovation Park, focusing on R&D for core semiconductor equipment, including thin film deposition, etching, and epitaxy equipment, to serve key clients in Wuhan and the broader Central China region. The headquarters plans to recruit roughly 300 staff, with about 100 dedicated to R&D.

Since its founding in 2004, AMEC has developed 54 types of high-end semiconductor equipment, according to the "China Optics Valley" report. Its etching technology spans process nodes from 65 nanometers down to 3 nanometers, achieving atomic-level precision in both etching and thin film processing. The company has installed over 8,800 reaction chambers across more than 220 production lines worldwide. AMEC generated roughly 12.38 billion yuan in revenue in 2025 and plans to scale its overall production capacity to 70 billion yuan.

Wuhan’s Optics Valley, chosen for AMEC’s new base, ranks among the nation’s top four integrated circuit hubs. The area has already attracted over 300 companies, forming a complete supply chain that spans chip design, materials, manufacturing, and packaging testing. The region’s IC industry surpassed 100 billion yuan in scale in 2025. Moving forward, Optics Valley is accelerating the development of two innovation zones focused on compound semiconductors and memory, each targeting a 100-billion-yuan market, to build a competitive industrial ecosystem.
