
Gasgoo.com (Shanghai February 22) - The Beijing Municipal Department of Transportation announced that the first batch of businesses vehicle license plate lottery winners have passed inspection, the Beijing Evening News reported today. According to the website, a total of 2,564 business vehicles, primarily from taxi companies and schools, as well as private and public enterprises, had been awarded a license plate in January's lottery. 71 applicants had not passed examination. The DOT also confirmed that no government vehicles made the cut.
According to the DOT's website, applicants must complete vehicle registration and other necessary procedures before August 24 of this year.
Beijing has implemented the license plate lottery system last month as part of its ongoing efforts to cut down traffic congestion problems. Inspection of passenger vehicle lottery winners is still under way, with final results slated to be announced this Friday, a day before February's lottery is scheduled to take place.
