Beijing to continue license plate based driving restrictions

Gasgoo.com (Shanghai April 2) - Beijing's municipal government announced that it will continue restricting which days automobiles can be driven in the city based on their license plate numbers, auto.qq.com reported today.

According to the regulations, government cars will not be allowed on the roads one day of the week. Which day of the week is dependent on the last numbers on their license plates. All other automobiles registered in the city will be prohibited from being driven on roads within the cities 5th Ring Road between 7 A.M. and 8 P.M. on certain working days, which will also be based on the vehicle's plate numbers. Regulations stipulating that automobiles with non-Beijing plates will not be allowed to be driven on those roads between 7 A.M. and 9 A.M. and between 5 P.M. and 8 P.M. will remain unchanged. Police cars, fire trucks, ambulances, school buses and other designated vehicles will remain exempt from all of the above restrictions.
