Gasgoo Munich-Buick has announced a major update for its premium electric sub-brand, Electra. The company will launch the Electra OS V2.1 — a full-scenario, over-the-air upgrade. This marks the first full-vehicle iteration for the entire Electra lineup and stands as the first concrete result of Buick's intelligent strategy since SAIC and GM renewed their joint venture. The full update will be pushed to all models in phased batches starting in August.

Built on the Xiaoyao Super Fusion Architecture — developed in-house by the Pan Asia Technical Automotive Center (PATAC) — the upgrade integrates four key vehicle domains: chassis, powertrain, driver assistance, and the smart cockpit. This delivers genuine, full-vehicle evolution, shattering the industry stereotype that joint-venture models stop getting smarter the moment they leave the factory.
The update targets four high-frequency driving scenarios: human-machine interaction, trip planning, smart parking, and driver assistance. On the interaction front, users can now create custom scenarios with a single voice command to automate cabin settings. For travel, a "stay-on power" mode keeps selected devices running even after the car is locked. Navigation waypoints have doubled from 5 to 10, streamlining long-distance, multi-stop trips. In driving intelligence, the system adds Automatic Emergency Steering (AES) and refines parking flexibility to better handle China's complex parking environments.
On security, Electra OS establishes a three-tier defense system across the application, service, and electromechanical layers. Core vehicle controls remain under independent hardware management, with physical buttons retaining the highest operational priority — ensuring safety isn't compromised as software evolves.
As the industry prioritizes rapid software iteration, full-vehicle FOTA capability has long been a weak spot for joint-venture brands. The deployment of Electra OS V2.1 signals that SAIC-GM's local R&D system now possesses complete, cross-domain OTA expertise. As the Xiaoyao architecture continues to unlock potential, the entire Electra lineup will see continuous feature updates — allowing existing owners to reap the benefits of ongoing intelligent upgrades.
