On November 15, BYD's YANGWANG brand demonstrated the YANGWANG U8 model's "emergency floating" feature at the Auto Guangzhou 2024.
When wading mode is activated, the vehicle uses sensors to monitor water depth and other factors. If conditions are met, the system automatically triggers floating mode, allowing the U8 to float and maintain control for movement and steering. The engine shuts off, the suspension rises, windows close, and the air system switches to internal circulation for better waterproofing. The sunroof also opens in extreme situations, providing an escape route. With 38 sensors and advanced four-wheel differential control, the U8 can float and move across water with ease.
