Jiangsu's 2010 production and sales figures top 1m - Feb. 11, 2011

Gasgoo.com (Shanghai) - The Jiangsu Economic and Information Commission (EITC) announced that the province's automobile production and sales last year surpassed one million units, Xinhua reported today. With 1.03 million vehicles produced and 1.01 million sold in 2010, Jiangsu's automobile market expanded about 50% from 2009. The figures represent 5.7% and 5.6% of the country's overall production and sales, respectively.

Geely president: Geely aims to become a top 500 company

Gasgoo.com (Shanghai) - "This year we will expand Geely's production capacity to over ten trillion units, enough to be one of the world's top 500 enterprises" beamed Yang Jian, president of Geely Holding Group, at the company's annual sales conference held last week. He outlined the company's development plan for the new year, saying that Geely would focus on making two transformation—from an international developer to a world leader and from a technology-focused manufacturer to a quality-focused one—and two adjustments—adjusting from rapid development to stable development and from producing line management to quality control management.

Auto dealers face decreasing interest during the Chinese New Year - Feb. 9, 2011

Gasgoo.com (Shanghai February 9) - After more then a year of nonstop sales and incoming business, Hangzhou's automobile market has finally calmed down during the Chinese New Year holiday (February 2 to 8). "Spring Festival (another term for the New Year) is when we all stop doing business," a dealer was quoted as saying. The Qianjiang Evening News found that sentiment echoed among automobile dealers throughout the city.

China's BYD Auto eyes the Philippines - Feb. 8, 2011

Manila Standard Today - China's biggest producer of batteries for cars and cellular phones plans to put up an assembly operation in the Philippines that will produce electric vehicles and components, a Board of Investments official said over the weekend.
