Shanghai September 19 (Gasgoo.com) China tripled commercial vehicle output and sales in the first eight months of this year, continuing a slow recovery in the industry, according to data released by the China Association for Automobile Manufacturers (CAAM).
China produced 1.28 million vehicles in August, up 11.99% year on year, but slightly down 0.64% from the previous month; vehicle sales in the same month rose 16.14% from a year earlier to 1.32 million units, but fell 6.29% over July.
In August, production of commercial vehicles in the country grew 2.45% m/m and 6.67% y/y to 302,100 units; commercial vehicle sales gained 1.83% from July and 8.24% from the same month last year.
In January-August 2010, China's vehicle output and sales jumped 39.27% and 39.02% from the same period last year to 11.49 million units and 11.58 million units respectively, of which production of commercial vehicles increased 33.92% y/y to 2.84 million units, with 2.90 million units sold, up 37.61% y/y.
