Chongqing Tsingshan Begins Volume Production of High-Power Coaxial E-Drive, Secures New SERES Projec

Gasgoo Munich- Chongqing Tsingshan Industrial Co., Ltd. announced the start of mass production for its next-generation high-power coaxial e-drive. The system is already installed in vehicles from brands like AVATR and VOYAH, which have been delivered to customers, and it has secured a new project designation from Seres. Public information indicates that monthly demand for the product has already surpassed 20,000 units. For Chongqing Tsingshan, which is currently transitioning its business toward new energy vehicles, the entry of the coaxial e-drive into the volume production phase signals that its e-drive operations are moving from technical validation to large-scale delivery.

In terms of specifications, the e-drive utilizes a coaxial architecture, achieving a power density of 3.8 kW/kg and an operating efficiency of over 94%. The core philosophy is not to blindly pursue higher power, but to seek a balance between vehicle space, weight, and efficiency by shortening the transmission path and increasing integration.

Specifically, Chongqing Tsingshan employs a planetary gear topology to deeply integrate the motor, reducer, and controller. Compared to traditional parallel-axis e-drives, this approach further compresses Z-direction space. Additionally, energy loss is reduced through a combination of hardware and software measures, including low-viscosity oils, high-precision mirror grinding, variable drive resistance, and pulse torque control.

The aforementioned product originates from Chongqing Tsingshan's GI-Drive 2.0 intelligent e-drive platform. Officially released in 2025, the platform covers application scenarios for both hybrid and pure electric vehicles, extending to centralized, coaxial, and distributed drive systems. Public records show that the GI-Drive 2.0 platform comprises 293 domestic and international invention patents and 119 key core technologies, reflecting Chongqing Tsingshan's accelerated transformation from a traditional transmission supplier to an e-drive system provider.

It is worth noting that competition in the current e-drive market has shifted from a question of availability to a comprehensive contest of efficiency, power density, cost, and integration capabilities. For instance, AVATR's latest distributed e-drive has a published power density of 4.52 kW/kg and an operating efficiency of 92.8%. This implies that metrics of 3.8 kW/kg and 94% are not sufficient on their own to form an absolute barrier. The real test of Chongqing Tsingshan's e-drive competitiveness will be its ability to continuously secure designations from mainstream automakers and maintain cost and quality stability as production volumes expand.
