AUTO SHOW REBOUND: The Detroit auto show, which opens to the public Jan. 15, exudes optimism this year. Displays are bigger and brighter and luxury automaker Porsche has returned after a three-year hiatus.
BUYERS ARE BACK: Car makers are expecting U.S. sales to rise by at least 1.5 million vehicles in 2011, to 13 million vehicles or more, as the economy improves.
STARS OF THE SHOW: The Hyundai Veloster, a 40-mile-per gallon sports car, a Toyota Prius wagon and new versions of the Honda Civic and Volkswagen Passat are getting a lot of buzz at the show.
