Eight months after Kadjar coming into the market, Donfeng Renault has launched its second domestic model. On November 10th, the new generation of Koleos was officially listed. The marketing strategy is to sale it within a price range of 179.8-269.8 thousand yuan and offer purchase tax subsidies of above 10 thousand before December 31st. It is expected to have a good prospect by insiders.
The insiders consider the listing of Koleos as Dongfeng Renault realizing a full product line of small-sized, compact and medium-sized vehicles. It will help Dongfeng Renault to further open the fastest-growing SUV market segment and save its weakness in Chinese market in the early stage of domestic products in China.
As Renault’s global flagship SUV, Koleos has already accumulated nearly 200 thousand users in imported car market and once even gained the sales crown among imported medium-sized SUV. After it was confirmed that Dongfeng and Renault will build a joint venture together, the first model to be domestically produced is expected to be Koleos.
It is the first time for Koleos to be produced outside of France. Fu Lan, chairman of Asia-pacific region of Renault, president and senior vice president of Dongfeng Renault Automobile Company Limited said that, the sales of Koleos in a single month is expected to overpass Kadjar and to be the pillar product of Dongfeng Renault in sales.
Statistics shows that, sales of Kadjar in October was 4006 units, which counted for 88% of the whole sales of Dongfeng Renault. As for a joint-ventured SUV, the result can not satisfy investors of both sides.
The new generation Koleos is positioned to be “a brand new charming SUV of intermediate level”, and aims to provide charismatic driving experience to the “new social elite”. The new Koleos has a length of 4672mm, a width of 1843mm, a height of 1673mm and a wheelbase of 2705mm. It is relatively economical concerning price.
Dongfeng Renault has encountered two challenges although it is dealing with concrete issues in Chinese market and except to reverse the poor sales of Koleos. Vice president of the company revealed that, Dongfeng Renault will dig the market of third-tire, fourth-tire and fifth-tire cities in order to help increasing the sales of Koleos.
At present, Dongfeng Renault has to expand its dealerships to 136 units, and the number will be 150 by the end of this year according to its plan. Dongfeng Renault promised to launch 1-2 new vehicle models. It will have 8 new models listed by 2020, steadily promoting the process of localization.
