
Gasgoo.com (Shanghai August 4) - Dongfeng Nissan will begin construction of its second engine factory in Henan's capital of Zhengzhou, the Beijing Times reported today. The joint venture held a ceremony for the news, with Dongfeng Nissan's President Matsumoto Fumiaki among those in attendance. Mr. Matsumoto announced that the joint venture's production capability will increase from 480,000 units to 1 million by next year.
In an interview with the press, Mr. Matsumoto revealed that Dongfeng Nissan had invested 3.6 billion yuan ($560.5m) in the project. The factory will help the JV in furthering its goal of localized auto part production. The Zhengzhou site will responsible for the manufacture of HR, MR and VQ series of engines.
Vice President Ren Yong confirmed that Dongfeng Nissan will begin construction of over ten of its auto parts at its Huadu factory.
