Gasgoo Munich-BYD's all-new Yuan PLUS has officially surfaced in the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology's (MIIT) latest batch of vehicle filings. This isn't just a refresh for the 100,000-yuan compact electric SUV — it's a comprehensive overhaul of the current model.
From cabin space to powertrain and smart features, the new model brings premium specs like LiDAR and an 800V high-voltage architecture down to the mass market, pushing its competitive edge to the limit.
Hardcore Upgrades Maxed Out: Every Change Targets Real-World Pain Points
The upgrades span dimensions, design, features, and powertrain, with every tweak aimed at the pain points of family electric SUV buyers. The result is a qualitative leap in capability that sets a new benchmark for its class.

Dimensions and interior space take a leap forward. The new model measures 4,665 × 1,895 × 1,675 mm, with a wheelbase stretched to 2,770 mm — roughly 200 mm longer overall and 50 mm wider in wheelbase than the current version. That translates to rear seating perfectly suited for family commutes and school runs.
Practicality gets a boost, too. A new 101-liter front trunk under the hood addresses a common electric vehicle storage shortfall, while the charging port has moved from the front to the rear fender for easier access. Every detail is tailored to real-world use.
The exterior design evolves the "Dragon Face" aesthetic with a fresh, trendy twist. The look is sleeker and flatter, with silver chrome trim on the nose blending seamlessly into slim headlights to visually widen the front end.
Rugged air intakes and geometric air ducts add tension to the closed front grille. At the rear, a full-width light bar features a wavy signature, while the license plate recess moves to the bumper. Paired with a dual-section high-mounted brake light, visibility is unmistakable.
Semi-hidden door handles, multi-spoke wheels, and customizable D-pillar trim panels offer buyers more ways to personalize the look.
Features and intelligent tech skip a grade. Options include a panoramic sunroof, roof racks, privacy glass, and a surround-view camera system. But the standout is the optional LiDAR sensor — a feature previously reserved for models costing over 300,000 yuan. Bringing it to the 130,000–160,000 yuan segment provides the hardware foundation for advanced driver assistance, pushing smart capabilities up a tier.

The powertrain — the model's core strength — takes center stage. Reports indicate a jump from a 400V to an 800V high-voltage architecture, paired with the second-generation Blade battery. Range anxiety vanishes: charging from 10% to 70% takes just 5 minutes, and at -20°C, the battery can charge to 97% in 12 minutes.
The second-generation Blade Battery boosts energy density by over 5% and is compatible with mainstream charging piles. Charging efficiency is 30% to 50% higher than conventional models, all while maintaining the brand's signature high safety standards.
Power comes from a more compact TZ180XY series rear-mounted motor, available in 200 kW and 240 kW versions — a significant boost in output. Pure electric range is expected to reach 650 km (CLTC), delivering on both performance and endurance.
The Yuan PLUS Is a Key Card for BYD
Since its inception, the Yuan PLUS has been a core model in BYD's Dynasty series. This total overhaul marks a critical step for the automaker to solidify its lead in the mainstream market and push high-end technology down to lower price segments.
Launched in 2022, the Yuan PLUS was also BYD's first globally strategic passenger vehicle. Marketed overseas as the ATTO 3, it became an instant hit.
Domestically, it has held the title of best-selling A-segment electric SUV for three consecutive years, driven by the safety of its Blade battery, the e-Platform 3.0, and strong value. Sales topped 300,000 units in 2024.
Globally, it is sold in 116 countries and regions, topping new energy sales charts in nations like Sweden, Singapore, and Thailand. In less than three and a half years, cumulative global sales surpassed 1 million units, making it the third BYD model — after the Qin and Song families — to hit that milestone.

The Yuan PLUS is not just the volume leader for BYD's 130,000–160,000 yuan electric SUVs; it is the flagship that opened the door to global new energy markets. Built to global design, safety, and quality standards, it has cultivated a sterling international reputation.
For BYD, the Yuan PLUS refresh serves a multi-pronged strategy: shoring up its core base, democratizing technology, and perfecting its product matrix.
First, it defends the crucial 100,000–200,000 yuan mainstream market — BYD's core base, where Dynasty and Ocean series models accounted for nearly 90% of sales in 2025. Amid fierce competition, the Yuan PLUS's comprehensive upgrades directly address consumer demands for range, intelligence, and space, widening the gap with rivals and securing its lead in the 130,000–160,000 yuan segment.
Second, it sets a standard for "technology democratization." By bringing the 800V architecture, LiDAR, and second-gen Blade Battery to the 100,000–150,000 yuan family market, BYD demonstrates its R&D and cost-control prowess while giving ordinary consumers access to premium tech experiences.
This trickle-down technology also pushes the broader industry forward, making LiDAR and 800V platforms mainstream trends in the 150,000 yuan segment and accelerating the adoption of high-end tech.
Third, it refines the product matrix to cover diverse needs. As a compact SUV, the new Yuan PLUS is more agile than mid-size options like the Tang series, making it better suited for urban family life. It complements BYD's other electric SUVs, adding depth to the lineup.
Its global DNA will also support BYD's international expansion, cementing its status as a top seller. In 2025, BYD overtook Tesla with 2.26 million electric vehicle sales to claim the global crown — and global hits like the Yuan PLUS are the engine driving that overseas growth.
Finally, it deepens BYD's technological moat. The safety of the Blade Battery, the maturity of e-Platform 3.0, the advantages of the 800V architecture, and a nationwide after-sales network combine to create a unique competitive edge in the new energy market.
By integrating these core technologies, the new Yuan PLUS not only strengthens its market appeal but also showcases BYD's engineering muscle, laying a solid foundation for future product development and expansion.
