Gasgoo Munich- On September 4, FAW-Volkswagen introduced two Jetta SUVs to Madagascar — the VS5 and VS8 — launching them simultaneously. The move targets African buyers looking for German-engineered family SUVs and marks a new addition to the automaker's global footprint.

The launch event featured static displays, test drives, and interactive sessions designed to highlight build quality, performance, and suitability for emerging markets. More than 100 attendees gathered, including representatives from key local distributor Sodiama SA, industry media, and major clients. Initial market response, according to company data, has been positive.
FAW-Volkswagen views overseas expansion as a key driver of high-quality growth, having already entered markets across the Middle East, Uzbekistan, and Kazakhstan. Specifically for Africa, the VS5 and VS8 underwent specialized tuning to handle local road conditions and climate. The automaker also built a support framework covering international shipping, parts supply, and after-sales technical service.
As China's only joint venture automaker controlled by a central state-owned enterprise, FAW-Volkswagen frames its export strategy as a direct contribution to the "Belt and Road" Initiative and Sino-African economic cooperation. By exporting industrial capabilities, production capacity, and standardized services, the company aims to serve both domestic and international markets. The Madagascar debut underscores its commitment to globalization and openness, with a goal of setting a new benchmark for high-quality development.
